How does this piece form?
Rock Crystal, also known as Clear Quartz, forms when silica-rich fluids circulate through fractures and cavities within rock. As these fluids cool under the right geological conditions, silicon dioxide gradually crystallizes into quartz.
During this process, other minerals present in the surrounding environment can become incorporated into the growing crystal.
In this specimen, chlorite became enclosed within the quartz during different stages of its formation, creating the fascinating internal structures and natural patterns visible today.
What is Clear Quartz with Chlorite?
Clear Quartz is the transparent, colourless variety of quartz, one of the most abundant minerals in the Earth's crust.
Chlorite refers to a group of silicate minerals commonly associated with green, grey-green, and darker earthy tones. When chlorite becomes enclosed within transparent quartz, it can create delicate clouds, layers, phantom-like shapes, and extraordinary landscape-like formations.
Because these inclusions developed naturally as the quartz grew, their position and appearance provide a glimpse into the changing geological conditions surrounding the crystal during its formation.
What Makes the Inclusions Special?
