A Landscape Captured Inside Crystal

How does this piece form?

Rock Crystal, also known as Clear Quartz, forms when silica-rich fluids circulate through fractures and cavities within rock. As these fluids cool under the right geological conditions, silicon dioxide gradually crystallizes into quartz.

During this process, other minerals present in the surrounding environment can become incorporated into the growing crystal.

In this specimen, chlorite became enclosed within the quartz during different stages of its formation, creating the fascinating internal patterns visible today.

What is Clear Quartz with Chlorite?

Clear Quartz is the transparent, colourless variety of quartz, one of the most abundant minerals in the Earth's crust.

Chlorite refers to a group of silicate minerals commonly associated with green, grey-green, and darker earthy tones. When chlorite becomes trapped within transparent quartz, it can create delicate clouds, layers, phantom-like shapes, and landscape-like formations.

Because these inclusions formed naturally rather than being added later, their position and appearance provide a glimpse into the changing geological conditions that surrounded the crystal as it grew.

What Makes the Inclusions Special?

Mineral inclusions are particularly fascinating because they preserve material that was present while the host crystal was forming.

As the quartz grew, periods of chlorite deposition could coat an earlier crystal surface. If quartz growth later continued, the chlorite became sealed inside, sometimes creating distinct outlines known as phantoms.

These structures can resemble miniature forests, mountains, clouds, or underwater landscapes suspended within the transparent crystal.

No two inclusion patterns can form in exactly the same way, making each specimen a completely individual geological creation.

A Natural Geological Masterpiece

At 0.72 kg, this Clear Quartz specimen has a beautiful presence while remaining refined in scale. Presented on its minimalist display stand, the complete piece reaches 13 cm in height and weighs 0.86 kg.

The elevated presentation allows light to move through the quartz, revealing different layers of chlorite and natural internal structures depending on the viewing angle.

Whether selected for a mineral collection or displayed as a sophisticated natural object, this Natural Clear Quartz with Chlorite Inclusions is a one-of-a-kind specimen that captures an extraordinary moment of geological formation within crystal.
