Millions of Years Hidden Inside a Natural Geode

Millions of years ago, geological processes created a cavity within rock — an empty space that would eventually become home to an extraordinary natural crystal formation.

Over immense periods of time, mineral-rich fluids moved through the surrounding rock and entered this cavity. Slowly, molecule by molecule, quartz crystals began to grow along its interior walls.

Under the right natural conditions, these crystals developed their characteristic violet colour.

The result is Amethyst — the violet variety of quartz, and one of nature's most recognisable crystal formations.

How Amethyst Crystals Are Formed

Amethyst is composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO₂), the same fundamental mineral composition as clear quartz.

Its remarkable violet colouring develops through a combination of trace elements within the quartz and natural geological processes occurring during and after crystal formation.

Crystal growth takes place extremely slowly. Layer after layer develops within the cavity, eventually creating the densely packed crystal points visible inside the geode today.

No two formations grow in precisely the same way, making every natural Amethyst geode completely individual.

Raw Crystal Preserved Within a Sculptural Form

What makes this specimen particularly striking is the contrast between its carefully polished egg-shaped exterior and the untouched crystalline world revealed within.

The smooth outer form gives the piece an elegant, sculptural silhouette, while the natural opening exposes sparkling Amethyst crystals in shades of violet, purple and lavender.

Rather than removing the irregularities created by nature, the design celebrates them.

The polished egg form frames the original geode formation, allowing both the refined exterior and raw crystal interior to become part of the piece.

A Natural Sculpture for the Interior

The Amethyst Geode Egg itself stands approximately 29 cm high and 20 cm wide, weighing 3.9 kg. Presented on its display stand, the complete piece reaches approximately 33 cm high and weighs 3.95 kg.

Its substantial proportions give it a beautiful presence without overwhelming an interior.

Displayed on a sideboard, console, shelving unit or within a curated mineral collection, it becomes both a geological specimen and a sculptural decorative object. The deep violet crystals introduce natural colour and brilliance, while the elegant egg form gives the piece a contemporary character.

Every crystal point, variation in colour and natural formation belongs to this individual specimen.
